Amine Regeneration Tower

Lopes’ first client production U-Stamped vessel, weighing in just shy of 100,000 lbs.

PRECISE AND QUALITY DRIVEN FABRICATION

Lopes’ first client production U-Stamped vessel, weighing in just shy of 100,000 lbs. This unit was built to replace an existing substandard installation (by others). Nozzle and attachment locations were required to marry perfectly with the existing deficient field connections. This resulted in Lopes having to locate nozzles fractions of a degree/inch in odd directions, to assure a smooth installation.

This unit required our highest standard of quality control: being reviewed by our workers, internal quality team, our client’s quality team, and a TSSA inspector.

All information for each component, including every inch of weld were tracked and mapped. Purchased materials required their own quarantine zone, and were not permitted for use until they were carefully examined and signed off by TSSA (i.e. plates & dished heads ultrasonically tested for compliant thickness, MTR’s reviewed for special chemical compliance… etc.). Lopes designed mobile rolls suited to this tank in order to move and rotate the unit as shell sections were added and sub-arc welded. This unit was so large that the trailer meant to ship it required assembly by a crane, here at Lopes.
